The Sport and Active Lifestyles team worked in partnership with Trinity Leeds and the Get Away Girls to deliver a fantastic International Women’s Day event. A feast of sport, art and music was on offer in Trinity Kitchen.
There was a variety of sport to try out on the day, England Table Tennis ran a series of tasters sessions, competitions, and coaching sessions on a PING table brought into the mall for the event. Positive futures engaged a large number of young people in both Boxing and Yoga sessions, which were fun packed and high energy.
Dani from Leeds Girls Can; was on hand to provide advice and guidance on how to get active in Leeds and to promote opportunities for women and girls to access sport and physical activity sessions.
Our friends the Veggie Runners took a large group of women and girls on a guided 3k run around the city centre, showing them the local architecture. Jayne, from the Veggie Runners talked to participants about beginner running groups and how to get started with running in their local community.
The Get Away Girls hosted a live music extravaganza in Trinity kitchen which included show casing a number of local artists. The event was rounded off with a special drinks reception and question and answer session with Olympic divers Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg, before they head off to Rio this summer.
A big thanks to Trinity Leeds for hosting the event and all the groups that attended on the night. If you require any information about the event or Sport and Physical opportunities in Leeds please contact, in the first instance –
