Pop Up Handball at Morley Leisure Centre

Following partnership work between the Sport & Active Lifestyles Team and England Handball, we brought an innovative Pop Up Sports event to Morley leisure centre for the very first time. Young people from across the locality were invited to attend this special event, hosted by Morley leisure centre and supported by local Handball clubs from Leeds (Leeds Hornets , Leeds University, Leeds Met).

The Pop up Sports project aims to engage young people aged 8 – 18 in high quality sports coaching and mentoring across the city, focusing on reducing the inequalities that exist in terms of access to facilities and high quality coaching.

On the day young people were treated to demonstrations, coaching, fun games, team building and a master class from GB Men’s captain Chris McDermott, who led the GB Handball squad at the London 2012 Olympics.
