20 runners of all ages and capabilities ran for the first time as part of the South Leeds Lakers inaugural run session on Tuesday 10 February. The new running group based close to the Crossflatts Parkrun took to the streets lead by three trained leaders, including Ewan Mitchell.
Ewan explained how the group is for beginner runners as well as those with some experience. If the group takes off as hoped, the aim is to break the groups down into simultaneous runs based on varied distances and pace. However, for now all run together in what is intended to be a social and friendly group that loves a good jog. The first run route took the Lakers through Old Lane, Dewsbury Road, Hunslet Hall Road and back up Beeston Road. The group meet at the Beeston Co-op (LS11 8PN) at 7pm every Tuesday. It’s free of charge, just turn up and off you go!
