Sport & Active Lifestyles were successful in achieving some funding through the Inner East Area Committee’s Youth Activity Fund by local Councillors.The funding enabled Sport and Active Lifestyles to deliver the following activities throughout the February half term at The Co-operative Academy of Leeds in the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward.
- An Emergency First Aid course was delivered on Monday 17th and Wednesday 19th February 2pm – 5pm targeting local young people (16+’s) from the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward. We had 11 females and 1 male that attended and passed the course successfully.
- A Fundamental First Aid course was delivered on Friday 21st February 2pm – 5pm targeting local young people (14-16 yr olds) from the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward. There were 10 females and 2 males who attended and successfully passed the course.
- Multi sports sessions were delivered throughout the week in the sports hall targeting local children and young people. 8 – 17yr olds from the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward
24 young people from the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward successfully passed their First Aid courses, enabling the young people to administrate the correct procedures to prevent situations from becoming worse and maintaining life.
These first aid awards are a life skill to young people and the certificate is valid for three years to successful candidates.
