The 13th annual National Disability Tag rugby festival took place at Headingley Carnegie Stadium last week, with over 150 disabled children, young people and adults taking part.
This fantastic festival, which sees teams competing from across Leeds, Yorkshire and the rest of the country, is a unique opportunity for players to grace the same pitch as the Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie. The event is organised by Leeds City Council in partnership with the Leeds Rugby Foundation, the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League and also included some excellent volunteers from other local clubs.
All participants received medals and certificates, along with information about where they can carry on playing rugby and other sports after the day.
This year the BBC and Gabby Logan came to film the event for their “Get Inspired” series, which will focus on the Rugby League World Cup being only weeks away. There was also a press call for the launch of BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which will be held in Leeds in December.
